Airbnb Launches Online Experiences With Tons of Virtual Activities
2 min read
In March, Airbnb Experiences, memorable activities led by passionate locals, were suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. So hosts suggested new ways to continue sharing what they love from home. Now, you can virtually take an interior design course, work out with former Olympians, and even hang out with goats thanks to the newly launched Airbnb Online.
Offered by hosts in more than 30 countries around the world, Airbnb Online offers activities for the whole family to enjoy such as learning the secrets of magic from a Guinness World Record-breaking magician and baking cookies together. There are even experiences for large groups like making cocktails with a bartender and joining a rollerskating dance party.
“Human connection is at the core of what we do,” Head of Airbnb Experiences Catherine Powell said in a statement. “With so many people needing to stay indoors to protect their health, we want to provide an opportunity for our hosts to connect with our global community of guests in the only way possible right now, online.”
Airbnb is also partnering with a few local organizations around the world to offer free experiences for older adults. A couple of the organizations include SAGE, which is dedicated to improving the lives of LGBT elders, and Amigos de los Mayores, an organization helping Spain’s elderly population facing social isolation.
Right now, there are more than 50 virtual Aribnb experiences (which are hosted—where else?—on Zoom) that you can book, and thousands more will be added in the coming months. You can start booking classes here. Interested in hosting? Submit your idea here.
