The Kia Stinger has been around long enough that it’s due for a mid-cycle update, and we now have photos of the updated 2022 model that should arrive in the U.S. next year. Its styling is slightly sharpened and we think the freshened design looks good inside and out.
Changes to the front end include new LED headlights, while the rear boasts a cool new taillight design that stretches the full width of the decklid. The turn signals’ LED elements are meant to look like a checkered flag. New 18- and 19-inch wheel designs are also on offer, and the GT model will offer larger exhaust tips and a rear diffuser. Kia says that a blacked-out appearance package for the U.S. If you’re curious about the “E” badge seen on this Korea-market example, know that this emblem is currently only found on the Stinger in its home market and is likely to stay that way.
We’re told that the interior materials have been upgraded, including contrasting stitching, new metallic finishes, and gloss-black trim. There’s also newly available colored ambient lighting. The infotainment system will upgrade from an 8.0-inch screen to a wider 10.25-inch unit.
Although Kia isn’t sharing many technical details at this point, we’re especially curious to hear about possible powertrain updates that could bring more powerful engines to the lineup. Our guess is that it will drop the current 2.0-liter turbo-four and 3.3-liter turbo V-6 engines in favor of the newer and more powerful 300-hp 2.5-liter turbo-four and 375-hp 3.5-liter turbo V-6 engines found in the Genesis G80. Kia says more details will be revealed later this year, so stay tuned.
