“Your Home Made Perfect,” a BBC Two renovation show, debuted in 2019, but its new second season has found particular relevance in the pandemic era.

Hosted by Angela Scanlon, the basic pitch of the program is that it allows two architects to use virtual reality to present homeowners with a fully formed, interactive version of their designs that allows them to “walk” through their potential new home without anyone ever having to pick up a hammer. Homeowners then pick the design that most appealed to them virtually, which inspires a real-life home renovation.

“They essentially step into their home as it was, pop goggles on, and they are standing in their kitchen,” Scanlon said in an interview with Build. “And then our architect begins to take them through the plan for the new home,

On July 26, supermodel and mom-to-be Gigi Hadid took to Instagram to give fans a glimpse of her newly renovated New York City apartment.

“Spent all of last year designing and curating my passion project / dream spot,” she wrote about her space. “Of course it all came together right before quarantining out of the city … but I’m excited for the time I’ll get to spend enjoying all the special corners that were made with a lil help from some of my favorite creatives … who embraced my ideas and didn’t call me crazy.”

Hadid’s “favorite creatives” might not have called her crazy when she asked for a bowl of pool balls in the kitchen or a giant mechanical pencil statue in the foyer, but many fans sure are.

This New 95-Foot Superyacht Is Like an Open-Plan Loft on the Water

Princess Yachts officially debuted its new X95 Monday on Facebook Live, a platform that has become a sign of these times—virtual launches, instead of real boats at boat shows. But the unusual design of the X-series’ flagship also signals changing times for Princess, showing a bolder, more creative period for the UK builder, which is now making new design rules instead of following them.

The X95—the “X” unofficially standing for explorer—is not only a sea change for Princess, but also for the 100-foot segment of the superyacht world. Princess’s goals for the X95 were an “open concept” and supersized flybridge, so owners would have greater freedom for layout choices, increased living space and more amenities in a smaller hull.

“We pushed the design language forward on this design,” Antony Sheriff, Princess chairman, said during a press conference last Thursday.

Chances are, you’ve been hearing the term “ally” a lot lately. As the country—and, indeed, the world—sees a new reckoning with systemic racism in the wake of the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and more, there’s been an increased movement for non-Black individuals to better support their Black peers and work to combat racism. In the interior design world, this has sparked many conversations on representation, inclusivity, and equity. Now, one organization wants to make Allyship more official. A month after releasing the “Designer Ally’s How-to,” a list of actionable steps non-Black members of the design community could take to help ease the burden of their Black colleagues, the Black Interior Designers Network is launching the Ally Program, a membership opportunity for supporting the work of the BIDN and its designers.

“My biggest hope for this Ally membership
